Using Literature to Develop Advanced English Skills

Reading, responding and reimagining: Developing C1/C2 Writing through literature (60 minutes) How can literature become a catalyst for sophisticated, advanced level writing? This session explores classroom practices that move beyond comprehension towards critical reading, purposeful response and creative reimagining. Drawing on the Cambridge C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency writing papers, we will examine tasks that develop precision, voice, organisation and control, helping learners transform literary engagement into high-level written performance across examination and academic contexts alike. Developing Reading and Use of English Skills at C1/C2 (45 minutes) This session will explore tips and techniques to support busy teachers and help them develop and assess their learners' reading and use of English skills in preparation for the C1 Advanced exam. There will be practical activities and techniques for teachers to try in class, as well as example exam tasks.
